Matt Hastings

Senior Associate

Matt joined Wylie-Crump in 2023 with more than 10 years of experience in construction risk. After starting his career in surety at a large global broker, he pivoted to directly supporting general contractors’ Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI) and subcontractor prequalification programs. Most recently, Matt was managing the SDI program of one of the largest general contractors in Canada.

Matt brings a breadth of experience in both subcontractor prequalification and SDI programs as well as the practical application of performance security mechanisms at both the prime contract and subcontract levels.

A graduate of Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science in biology, Matt went on to complete the Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB), Canadian Risk Management (CRM), and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designations.

Outside of the office, Matt enjoys travelling, fitness, local craft beer, and hiking with his dog, but not necessarily in that order.
